How To Maximize Consumer's Attention Span

One of the main problems marketers face is to keep their audience's attention. Read more to see how you can maximize their short attention span.

As of today, the average attention span of humans is 8 seconds. If you know your animal science really well, you’ll be noticing that it is 1 second shorter than a goldfish’s attention span. Yes, you heard me right! We do now have a shorter attention span compared to a silly orange colored goldfish!

It may not be that eminent for marketers like you and me, but this is very vital in the sense that your website traffic will be harder to please. This is a tough task that every marketer will probably shoulder. One of some marketers’ sworn enemies is their viewer’s attention. Since the whole internet is filled to the brim with other types of advertisements, any marketer must do all their best in catching their target audience’s attention.

Although niches are made so that businesses can be categorized easily, marketers will still have a very hard time acquiring viewers. This is because each niche is also made up of numerous businesses in their category. Add the fact that even your targeted traffic’s attentions span is very low, the chances of gaining even a single purchase seemed kind of blurry.

To compensate with that, we came up of these simple tricks that could help you maximize your viewer’s attention span. So don’t fret if your audience isn’t paying attention because you can get them back by:

1. Creating content other than pure text
It’s the internet and you could almost put whatever you want on it. Use the advantage of technology by including multimedia in your website. Do not limit yourself in plain text. Use different types of media like audio files, images and whatever else you got in your sleeve.

2. Make your content humorous
Most of the viral contents in the world of internet are composed of humorous contents that can make their viewers smile for the whole day. Happiness triggers not only pure extensive interest, but it also encourages your viewers to make a transaction or purchase. Certainly, some viral contents are long enough to bore viewers, but their content is funny enough to keep their viewer’s attention on hold.

3. Mind your color combination
Oddly, eye-hurting combination can even cut your website viewer’s attention span in half again. If ever possible, use color combinations that doesn’t strain the eyes. Using this technique is very effective especially when you use targeted traffic as your main traffic supply.

4. Know your traffic’s source
Another way of maximizing your viewer’s attention span is to identify their source. Whether you buy traffic or you just gather traffic from other given sources, you must make sure that you know where your traffic comes from. With this, you’ll be able to adapt to their environment and you’ll figure out what proper steps should you take in interacting with them. So fellow marketers, you can still your attention span dilemma by following these simple tips in maximizing your viewer’s short consciousness on things. Just be sure that you know your website traffic pretty well and you’ll be able to get their attention in no time!
