As CMO of Bango, I work closely with businesses that focus on driving user growth and maximizing monetization. My role is to champion the adoption of new technology by merchants, allowing them to achieve their goals by challenging traditional approaches to measuring marketing success.
I believe that digital marketing has become conservative and self-referencing, over-reliant on metrics that only vaguely relate to real business goals. Through Bango, I’m fighting to build a strong connection between the marketing dollars invested by a business and the revenue coming in.
Through my career, I’ve been driven by breakthrough technology that becomes adopted across the market as a whole. I’ve enjoyed a measure of success in these pursuits, for example:
- Bringing the first commercially successful artificial life video game, Creatures, to market. (Before AI was a “thing”)
- Making a breakthrough user interface technology, X.desktop, into a global computing standard —used on over 70% of all networked computers
- Bringing online payments to the mass market by championing “alternative payments” like carrier billing — in partnership with Vodafone, Telefonica and AT&T to help make this market a $30Bn a-year business
Outside of work, I love to support individuals who have the drive to come up with new ideas and turn these into a business. I’m also committed to challenging dogmatism wherever we find it — whether that’s in business, marketing, or any walk of life. Having an opinion is not the same as thinking about something!
